Derren Nesbitt (born Derren Michael Horwitz; 19 June ) is a British actor. Nesbitt's film career began in the late s, and he appeared in many British television series throughout the s and s. He is perhaps best known for his role as Major von Hapen in the film Where Eagles Dare.

Nesbitt’s life to date has been full of great successes and personal failures but he remains one of the most regular faces in film, television and stage since the fifties and still has a legion of fans today.
Nesbitt was born Derren Michael Horwitz on 19 June in London, England. (He claimed he was born at the Empire Theatre, Finsbury Park but it has never been substantiated, although his father was the comedian Harry Nesbitt.)
His first appearances were on television, rather than spelfilm in ‘The Adventures of Sir Lancealot’ appearing in 14 episodes in different roles from a cook to Sir Oringle. He was credited as Derry Nesbitt. This slowly progressed him into films with uncredited roles in ‘The Silent Enemy,’ ‘A Night to Remember’ and ‘Behemoth the Sea Monster.’ He returned with more success to television with credited roles in ‘H G Wells The Invisible Man,’ ‘William Tell,’ ‘Sword of Sherwoo
