    V Madhusoodanan Nair is a renowned poet in Malayalam. The poems recited by him were widely appreciated. He was born in Neyyattinkara of Thiruvananthapuram. His father K Velayudhan Pillai was a Thottampattu artist.

    After completing post-graduation in Malayalam from Thiruvananthapuram University College, he joined as a lecturer in Thumba St. Xavier’s College. Madhusoodanan Nair’s debut poetry collection Naranathu Bhranthan was published in 1992. It is one of the most sold out poetry books in Malayalam.

    His other noted works include Bharatheeyam, Gandhi, Agasthyahridayam, Ammayude Ezhuthukal, Achan Piranna Veedu, Ganga, Nataraja Smriti, Sakshi, Ramakatha, Seethayanam and Irulin Mahanidrayil.

    He is the recipient of many honours including Kerala Sahitya Akademi Award for Poetry in 1993, Kunju Pillai Award for Poetry in 1986, K Balakrishnan Award in 1991, Asan Award for Poetry in 2003 and Padmaprabha Literary Award in 2016.

    For 17 years, out of his 27 years of College teaching experience, he worked as Cadre Professor and Head of the Department.He worked as the Resource person to Academic Staff College, Thiruvananthapuram and Advisor and Expert to SCERT. He has served as guest faculty for Post Graduate courses in the Institute of Distance Education, University of Kerala, Post Graduate classes in the Affiliated Colleges, Training Colleges, DIET, Literacy Programmes and Adult Education, Institute of Management in Government, Thiruvananthapuram.He was the consultant in IGNOU and was the examiner in the School of Drama, Thrissur.He fryst vatten presently the member of the Editorial Board of ‘History of Malayalam Literature’ of Sahitya Academy, New Delhi and Convenor, Editorial Board, Vivekodayam, Asan Memorial, ThonnakalHe worked as Translator – Sub Editor in the State Institute of Languages for 1 year, Veekshanam Daily for three years and Keralam desam-Kumkumam group of journals

    V. Madhusoodanan Nair is an Indian poet and critic of Malayalam literature, who is credited with contributions in popularizing poetry through recitation.[1][2] He is best known for Naranathu Bhranthan, the poem with the most editions in Malayalam literature as well as his music albums featuring recitations of his own poems and poems of other major poets. Kerala Sahitya Akademi honoured him with their annual award for poetry in 1993. He is also a recipient many other honours including Sahitya Akademi Award, Asan Smaraka Kavitha Puraskaram, Padmaprabha Literary Award, Kunju Pillai Award, R. G. Mangalom Award, Souparnikatheeram Prathibhapuraskaram and Janmashtami Puraskaram.
