Vijender Singh Beniwal (born 29 October ) is an Indian professional boxer and politician of Bharatiya Janata Party.[1] As an amateur, he won a bronze medal at the Beijing Olympics, becoming the first Indian boxer to win an Olympic medal. He also won bronze medals at the World Championships and the Commonwealth Games, as well as silver medals at the and Commonwealth Games, all in the middleweight division.[2]
In June , Vijender Singh turned professional and signed a multi-year agreement with Queensberry Promotions through IOS Sports and Entertainment. This ruled him out of Olympics which would have been his fourth.[3]
He has also been an active politician and contested the Lok Sabha elections from the South Delhi constituency.[4]
