    FAIRVIEW Rgs qualified for the last 16 of the FAI Junior Cup with a hard-earned win over LSL side St Ita’s at the Fairgreen on Sunday afternoon.

    The visitors took the lead with a spectacular goal when Robert Pender’s shot from half way found its target.

    Fairview kept to their game plan and were back on level terms just before the break when Josh McCarthy scored.
    Fairview went in front just after the break when Darragh Rainsford crossed for Oleg Vysochan to head home.

    However, the visitors were proving a dogged challenge and they were back on level terms within minutes when Eric Foley blasted in from 25 yards.

    The deciding goal came 25 minutes from time when good work by Vysochan allowed Adam Dore finish from close range.
    Solid defending to the final whistle saw the home side through.

    Banstead have been in the Combined Counties League since being relegated from the Isthmian League in 2006. They then slipped down to Division 1 in 2012 but won that title in 2017, since when they have been a mid-table team in the Premier Division. However, last season was a struggle for them.
